Alison’s Page

I am a qualified teacher though not working in school. I am a volunteer with the National Trust at the Ashridge Estate near Berkhamsted in Hertfordshire and at Dunstable Downs.

In my spare time I have, I enjoy reading many different types of books to relax. I love photography, taking pictures of landscapes, houses and gardens and wildlife too.  You can see some of my favourite photos on my Photo Gallery page.

I used to  take photos at some of the plays performed at the Little Theatre in Dunstable. We are still members and attend most of their productions.

I love music. I sing with my church choir at Aley Green Methodist Church. I used to sing with a ladies choir (Cantata) but sadly this has now closed. Now I have joined the U3A choir. We like to go to concerts, operas and musicals - both professional and local amateur events.

Another of my spare time interests has been researching our Family History. This is a time consuming occupation and can be fascinating, finding out what our ancestors did for a living and where they came from. I started with memories from older family members and have worked backwards from there. I always welcome extra comments and help from anyone who can fill in gaps or provide further information about any branch of the family. I wrote up books of our family history including my Grandfather's First World War Memories.
